YouTube 101: How to Make a Playlist from Your Phone

YouTube is a giant platform — over 300 hours of video are uploaded every minute. It can be difficult to keep track of your favorite videos in such a chaotic sea of content. Difficult, but certainly not impossible.Let's say you want to start a collection of the funniest videos you've ever seen. Or, maybe you want to organize a group of educational videos together as a study guide of sorts. Whatever the reason, if you need to group videos together on YouTube, there's a solution: Playlists.Playlists are easy to create. To start, just find a video that interests you, then tap the three-dot menu button next to the video's title. Or, if you're already viewing the video that you'd like to add to a playlist, tap the "Add to" button just beneath the video's title. The three-dot menu button (left) and the "Add to" button (right). After tapping either the three-dot menu button or the "Add to" button, choose "Add to Playlist." If you've never made a playlist before (that's probably the case since you're viewing this guide, right?), you will have two options — "Create new playlist" or "Watch later." Android (left) vs. iPhone (right). Watch Later is a playlist that comes built into every YouTube account. It's a fast and easy way to save videos that you don't have time to watch now. It even has its own selection in the aforementioned options menu, saving you a step.Don't Miss: How to Block YouTube Ads & Enable Background Playback on Your iPhone—No Jailbreak NeededTo make your own playlist, however, select "Create new playlist." Now, the Android and iOS apps differ slightly after this point. Both immediately let you name the new playlist, but iOS gives you three privacy options — Public, which means this playlist will be viewable by anyone on YouTube; Unlisted, which means only users with the link to the playlist can view it; or Private, which means only users you have given permission to can view the playlist. On Android, the playlist will be public by default, and you will only have the option to change the playlist to private. Android (left) vs. iPhone (right). So give your new playlist a name, then tap "OK" on Android or hit the check mark on iOS. In the future, if you'd like to add more videos to this same playlist, just tap the three-dot menu button or the "Add to" button like you did before, but this time, choose "Playlist," then pick the playlist you just created. Then, to view your new playlist, tap "Library" in the bottom-right corner of the app's main menu. Your playlists will be listed at the bottom of this page, with a default "Liked videos" playlist always at the top.If you open your playlist, you'll see some options represented as icons across the top of the screen. You can shuffle play the playlist, share it, and delete it. You can also edit the name, description, privacy settings, and add users to collaborate. Then, the bell icon lets you set an alert on the playlist so that every time a new video is added, YouTube will notify you. This feature works better for playlists you follow, however, since you don't need a notification every time you add a video yourself. Android (left) vs. iPhone (right). Now that you know your way around playlists, YouTube just turned into your own personalized TV station in a way. What was the first playlist you made on YouTube? How To: Record Your Sleep Patterns with Samsung Health No Wearables Needed

The quality and length of your sleep will almost always dictate how the rest of your day unfolds. Sleeping fewer hours increases your chances of spending the day in a tired and cranky state, while having a restful night's sleep contributes greatly to being alert and productive. Luckily, if you want to track your sleep patterns to figure out how you can improve your circadian rhythm, Samsung Health has you covered. When connected to a wearable device like a Galaxy Gear smartwatch or Fitbit, Samsung Health can accurately track your sleeping patterns based on time and activity, along with any movements you make while asleep. If you don't have a smartwatch or fitness band, however, the app is still able to keep track of both your sleep and wake times, though the process can be a little more involved. I'll show you how to do just that below.Install Samsung Health on Any Android Device (Google Play Store)
Step 1: Record Your SleepSamsung Health's sleep tracking feature is largely automated — it will kick in by itself once you put your device down as you turn in for the night. You don't have to keep it in bed with you, just put it wherever you normally would at night. We found that the app starts recording your sleep within 30 minutes of hitting the sack, usually faster.Interestingly, if you wake up in the middle of the night to check briefly your device, Samsung Health won't register the time you rose if you only use your handset for less than five minutes and go back to sleep. Once you do wake up for good come morning, the app will will register your wake time from the moment you pick up your phone to access it.

Step 2: Tweak Your Sleep TimeIf you usually access your phone as soon as you wake up to check for emails and messages, or simply disable the alarm you've set, chances are, Samsung Health will correctly record your wake time. If your morning routine involves performing other tasks like eating breakfast and brushing your teeth before checking your device, however, you'll most likely need to edit your wake time for a more accurate recording. So if Samsung Health recorded the time and length of your slumber correctly, simply tap on the tiny check mark button on the upper-right within the Sleep tile inside the app, and you're good to go. If you need to correct your sleep and wake times, however, tap on the Sleep tile, then edit the time by adjusting the timetable on the following page. Besides time adjustment, you can also rate your sleep quality by tapping on the stars — with one being the lowest, and five being the highest — along the bottom. Once you've correctly edited your sleep times, tap on "Save" to record them.

Step 3: Edit Sleep Time Target (Optional)Samsung Health automatically preconfigures your sleep time target based on your profile information such as age and gender. However, these targets may not accurately reflect your daily routine. If your work schedule requires you to work night shifts, for instance, having a sleep target of 11 PM to 6 AM may not be realistic. If that's the case, you'll need to customize your sleep time target within Samsung Health, which can be accomplished by tapping on the Sleep tile, then tapping on the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner -and selecting "Set target." From there, simply swipe on the time bars for both "Bedtime" and Wake-up time" to set your sleep target. How To: Make Photo Time-Lapse Videos of Yourself Using Your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Other Smartphone
In early 2000, at the age of 19, Noah Kalina began taking a photo of himself with the same facial expression—every single day. Six years and over 2,000 photographs later, Kalina turned his project into a time-lapsed montage on YouTube. In just one day, his video received over a million views. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
This was one of the first viral videos I ever watched. The popularity of the video has spurred imitators, but they rarely fare quite as well as Kalina's version, due to the strenuous routine one must follow to pull it off. Now, 7 years after the original video, Kalina is still going strong and continuing his project by taking a photo every single day.If you've ever wanted to make your own photo montage, but don't want to spend a ton of time on it, there's an app that helps make the process a whole lot simpler using your Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or other Android device.

PhotoCronDeveloped by Andrew Dyer Smith, a technical account manager for Google, PhotoCron allows you to easily create a time-lapse video out of all of your pictures. Once you decide on a project, you can either take a photograph everyday, or at any other time interval, and set alarms along with each project so that you'll never forget to take a picture. Taking the picture is also easy, with use of both the front and rear cameras. If you decide to take self portraits, you can align your photo with a simple guide that shows up on the screen (left), or by overlaying it with the last photo you took (right). Once you finish your project, PhotoCron can automatically turn your pictures into a time-lapse video. Check out the video below to see an example of how it looks when it's finished. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
All the photos you take through the app are stored in their own folder on your device, so if you get a new phone, you can transfer over all your pictures. You can find more information on the app's website, and download it free from Google Play.
Don't Have an Android?iPhone users can check out Everyday for iOS. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
Much like PhotoCron, the app lets you set reminders for when to take pictures, with an adjustable grid to line your face up or an overlay of the last photo you took.If you're shooting with a real camera instead of a smartphone, you can turn the photos into a cool 360-degree timelapse around a building, or build a weatherproof enclosure for super long outdoor timelapses.

News: Apple's Ditching the 'Do Not Track' Option for Safari in iOS 12.2

News: Apple's Ditching the 'Do Not Track' Option for Safari in iOS 12.2

Apple first added the "Do Not Track" option to Safari in iOS 7, which sent a request to site owners and advertisers to not track your browsing activity. By tracking your activity, those third-parties could tailor content to you that you're more likely to interact with. While the feature was always opt-in, it's no longer a feature at all in iOS 12.2 on your iPhone.Release notes for Safari 12.1, the app version that is included in iOS 12.2, clearly state that "Do Not Track" has been removed from Safari's settings. The reasoning is because the standard is expired, therefore serves no purpose but to allow third-parties to fingerprint your device and use information.Removed support for the expired Do Not Track standard to prevent potential use as a fingerprinting variable.Do Not Track's usefulness entirely depended on the third-parties that it was sending the signal to since it was not a mandatory request. Web apps, advertising networks, analytics companies, plug-in providers, and other parties hiding on the web could easily ignore the signal sent by Safari to not track your browsing activity, and it was easy for them since there was no universally-agreed upon DNT standard. Google, Facebook, and Twitter have all been known to ignore DNT requests.Don't Miss: New iOS 12.2 Features for iPhone You Don't Want to Miss Since the Do Not Track request header has been largely ignored by most websites, and because of its seldom deployment, the World Wide Web Consortium, the main international standards for the web, withdrew further consideration for the standardization of the tracking-protection expression in January 2019. The Safari settings in iOS 12.1.3 (left) vs. iOS 12.2 (right). While it's sad to see this feature go, it was never really more than the equivalent to a "Protected by ADT" sign on the lawn of your house. Yes, robbers and trespassers would see, but if there's something they really want in your home, they're going to try and get it. The only difference is, acquiring your browsing activity is not illegal.Plus, Apple had already implemented "Intelligent Tracking Prevention" in iOS 11 and higher, which put restrictions on how third-parties can use first-party cookies, effectively limiting the use of cross-site scripting when browsing the web. Safari 12.1's release notes also mention a few more Safari-related updates, which improves the overall performances of Intelligent Tracking Prevention.Removed support for partitioned cookies for domains with cross-site tracking capabilities. The Storage Access API now provides third-party access to cookies. Improved Intelligent Tracking Prevention to limit long-term tracking based on client-side first-party cookies and to verify partitioned cache entries.Don't Miss: 30 Privacy & Security Settings in iOS 12 You Should Check Right NowFollow Gadget Hacks on Pinterest, Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, and Flipboard Sign up for Gadget Hacks' daily newsletter or weekly Android and iOS updates Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flipboard

How To: Change the App Launched with the Shortcut Key on LG Devices

How To: Change the App Launched with the Shortcut Key on LG Devices
One of the biggest gripes I initially had with the LG G3 was the lack of options for the Shortcut keys, which are the volume keys that allow you to launch the camera or the QuickMemo+ app directly from the lock screen. I never use QuickMemo+, so having it as a shortcut was a complete waste of functionality.Don't Miss: 6 Unique Android Launchers That Don't Suck Thankfully, there's finally a non-root method to change these shortcuts and launch almost anything you want on an LG G2, G3, G4, or G Pro from the lock screen, thanks to the AppTuner's development team. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Step 1: Install Key PlusTo get the process started, download the app called Key Plus for LG G4, G3, G Pro. It's free, ad-free, and requires no root permissions to work. All you need is a stock LG ROM running Android 4.0 or higher.Install Key Plus from the Google Play Store

Step 2: Configure the AppLaunch Key Plus and select one of the two shortcuts you wish to adjust. Unfortunately, if you're running Android 5.0 or above, you cannot change the volume down shortcut, but since that's associated with quickly launching the Camera app, you probably want to keep that anyhow.
Step 3: Test It OutI replaced the QuickMemo+ shortcut with the flashlight, which is a much more practical option for me. For other apps or tasks, you might need to unlock the device after executing the shortcut. This was a little disappointing to find out, but it's still faster than unlocking the device and searching for the app I wanted.Follow Android Hacks over on Facebook and Twitter, or Gadget Hacks over on Facebook, Google+, and Twitter, for more Android tips.
