News: 5 Secret Snapchat Lenses That Will Make Your Weekend Infinity War, the Chainsmokers & More
One word to sum up this batch of Snapchat lenses: complex. Lens creators like ApocTheLegend and Jinnie the Wew have been at it long enough to start making some really cool stuff, stretching the limit of what's possible using Lens Studio. I'm really looking forward to what they continue to pump out in the future. With these lenses more than ever, it's important that you understand how to use user-created lenses, by either scanning a Snapcode or tapping a link. Don't forget to also share these lenses with your friends if you like what you see. While most of these lenses walk and talk like a lens, some (like the Brooklyn 99 one) are more like overlays. Still, they're all lenses if they're created in Lens Studio. That being said, I'll specify when they don't behave like a real lens.Previous Week: Iron Man, iDubbz & More Hot Lenses

1. Infinity War DisintegrationOne of the best memes to come out of Avengers: Infinity War is the disintegration meme. Reddit user ApocTheLegend was hard at work making this lens for a while, and it makes sense why. This is a pretty complicated lens that involves you taking a shot of the background first, and then fading away. He even made a tutorial if you're confused.Unlock the IW Disintegrate lens on Snapchat right now

2. The ChainsmokersThe Chainsmokers are one of the most popular duos in America right now, and this Lens superimposes Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart directly onto whatever surface you want.Unlock the Chainsmokers lens on Snapchat right now

3. Brooklyn Nine-NineBrooklyn Nine-Nine was recently canceled, but was fortunately picked up by NBC for another season. To celebrate, ARFected created an overlay that shows the sitcom's title screen and plays the main theme to accompany it.Unlock the B99 lens on Snapchat right now

4. PortalThis is where things start to get significantly more complicated. Jinnie the Wew created a lens that lets you open up a portal. You do so by recording part of the screen, tapping the green button, then tapping on your screen while recording your Snap to open up the portal to what you recorded before.Unlock the Portal lens on Snapchat right now

5. Stop MotionAnother complex lens by ApocTheLegend that came out recently is this Stop Motion one. You can create your own mini stop motion film that's up to 30 frames long. You can also just make unoriginal loss memes. By enabling "Onion Skin," all the frames will kind of blend together. Tap "Play" to begin playback, where you'll capture your video by recording a Snap.Unlock the Stop Motion lens on Snapchat right now With this group of lenses, your friends will be begging you to tell them how you pulled off some of these. Thankfully, sharing them during this Memorial Day weekend is super easy.Don't Miss: How to Add GIFs from Giphy to Your SnapsFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flipboard Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Flipboard

How To: Unlock Chrome Beta's Hidden Side-Scroller Game on Android

How To: Unlock Chrome Beta's Hidden Side-Scroller Game on Android
I'm sure you've been here before: sitting on an airplane, bored out of your mind, and you forgot to install a few games or download a movie before your flight departed. No worries, though. If you have the latest Chrome Beta installed on your Android, there's a fun little mini-game baked right into the "You are offline" screen.Update: This feature is now out of beta and available for everyone on both Android and iOS, so both Andriod and iPhone users can play.

Make Sure Your Chrome Beta Is Up to DateThis neat little trick is currently exclusive to the latest version of Chrome Beta for Android. Make sure you have the app installed and updated, then I'll show you how to access the mini-game below.

Trying Out the Mini-GameThis cool little game is only accessible when you're offline, so if you'd like to try it out now, put your device into Airplane mode. Then, all you have to do is type any address into Chrome Beta's address bar. You'll be greeted with the standard "You are offline" page. But here's where the fun begins. Tap the dinosaur, and the mini-game will start right up. It's a side-scroller, so tap the screen to help the T-Rex avoid all of the cacti that he's running towards. Honestly, I think this game is incredibly fun, and I know it would tide me over for a good half hour or so. What's your high score so far? Let us know in the comments section below, and make sure to check out Gadget Hacks on Facebook and Twitter to keep updated on all of the latest and greatest.

How To: Get the LG G3's Exclusive "Home" Launcher on Your HTC One or Other Android Device

How To: Get the LG G3's Exclusive "Home" Launcher on Your HTC One or Other Android Device
LG has really made their new G3 handset something to drool over. The hardware and software behind it can be considered as good, or even better than most flagships out there, and it has left me second guessing my decision to stick with the M8.Just kidding, I love this thing, but it would still be cool to get some of these G3-specific features on the HTC One.While we cannot port over hardware specs, we can sure as hell port over all the new apps and features that are exclusive to the G3. Just like Cloudyfa did with the G3 keyboard, XDA user Jishnu Sur has successfully ported the G3 Home Launcher to any Android running KitKat 4.4 and above. Your device will also need to have an unlocked bootloader with TWRP, or any another custom recovery installed. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
Step 1: Download Home LauncherThis install isn't as simple as installing an APK, so we'll need to download a .zip file that we will flash in TWRP. Download it directly to your device, or to your PC and move it to your Downloads folder.Download the LG G3 Home Launcher
Step 2: Boot into RecoveryAfter downloading the .zip, reboot your device into recovery mode by pressing and holding the Power and Volume Down buttons until you see the bootloader menu. Using the Volume Down button, highlight Recovery, then press the the Power button to start TWRP.

Step 3: Install via AROMAOnce you're in TWRP, tap the Install icon, select the LG G3 V2.zip in your Downloads folder, and then Swipe To Confirm Flash. An AROMA installer will start up, and we will be using it to configure exactly what gets installed along with the launcher. The first screen you see will ask which theme you want applied to AROMA—it is completely up to you which one you use—after selecting, press Next. On the following screen, check to agree to the terms and conditions, then press Next again. Now you will be able to select if you want to install the LG Weather Widget along with the launcher, or just the launcher by itself. For the easiest installation, just keep every check box marked and keep pressing Next until you see the Ready To Install screen. From there, check the box next to Clear Dalvik Cache After Installation and then tap Install. After the install finishes, tap Finish, then Reboot System.

Using the Home LauncherWhen you first boot your device, you will need to select your default launcher. To do that, go to Settings -> Home and select Home as your default launcher. Unlike the Sense launcher, the app drawer of Home scrolls horizontally, and has tabbed sections for Apps and Widgets. The Gear icon on the top right lets you rearrange the app drawer icons freely, and lets you save the new layout by tapping the Check icon on the top right. Adding icons to your home screens is the same as Sense—just tap and hold an icon in the app drawer and place it on the whichever screen you desire.

Managing Home Screens & IconsBy default, the Home launcher comes with seven home screens ,but you can pinch your fingers on the screen to access the home screen manager. There, you can assign the main home screen, or tap and hold one to delete it. The screen with the Home icon over it will be the default home screen for the launcher. LG also included the ability to change an app's icon. Press and hold the icon you want to change, then tap the Brush icon that appears over it. You can choose from one of the pre-installed icons that come with Home, or you can choose a picture from your gallery. You should also know that the knock-on and tap-to-sleep gestures are not installed with the launcher, but we got you covered! Paired with the LG keyboard, the Home launcher can really make it seem like your One is having an identity crisis.

Edit: I just tested it out, I tried shaking my phone 3 times and it vibrated and turned the light on. Shaked it again 3 times and the light turned off. No special settings selected, no special app. Plus it's even more ridiculous to have an app turn the light on for free but cost a dollar to be able to turn it off.

How To: Use VLC's Picture-in-Picture Mode on Android Oreo to Watch Videos While Multitasking

How To: Use VLC's Picture-in-Picture Mode on Android Oreo to Watch Videos While Multitasking
A new feature in Android O is making it incredibly easy to multitask while you're watching a video. It's called Picture-in-Picture mode, and if you've ever used a TV with this option, you should already have a pretty good idea of how it works.PiP mode is fairly intuitive, and it already works with VLC for Android — however, it's not quite as simple as pressing a button on your remote. For one thing, you'll have to enable a new option in VLC to use the feature, and even then, you'll have to get acclimated to the new floating video player interface. But it's really not that hard once you get the hang of things, so below, I'll give you a tour of the new feature in Android 8.0 and show you everything you need to do to get the most out of Picture-in-Picture mode with VLC.Don't Miss: All the Cool New Features & Changes Coming in Android O

Step 1: Make Sure You're Running the Latest Version of VLCFirst up, you'll obviously need to be running Android 8.0 or higher to use the new PiP feature, but you'll also need to make sure you're running the latest version of VLC. So to start, head to the Play Store and make sure to accept any updates for VLC if they're available.Install or update VLC for Android on the Google Play Store

Step 2: Enable Background PlaybackNext, you'll need to enable an option in the VLC app to get PiP mode working. So swipe in from the left edge of your screen to open the side navigation menu, then select "Settings." From there, tick the box next to the "Play videos in background" option.

Step 3: Minimize the Video PlayerFrom now on, whenever you're watching a video in VLC and would like to do a bit of multitasking, it's easy to put the player into Picture-in-Picture mode. To do so, just tap the three-dot menu button in the player controls (tap your screen once if the player controls are hidden), then select the Picture-in-Picture icon, which looks like a rectangle within another rectangle.

Step 4: Watch Videos in PiP ModeImmediately after pressing the PiP icon in VLC, your video will shrink down to a small floating window in the bottom-right corner of your screen. From here, you can drag the floating window to any position on your screen, and you can even open any app. All the while, the video window will remain on top, so you can get directions, text a friend, read an article, or whatever you need to do, but your video won't be interrupted. When you'd like to go full-screen again, you can tap the video window to reveal a set of controls. From here, you can tap the full-screen icon to return to the full VLC app. You can also pause playback and skip to the next or previous video in a playlist. Or, if you'd like to stop the video, you can press the "X" icon to close VLC and the PiP window. Default PiP window placement (left); PiP window moved (center); PiP window expanded to reveal controls (right). Now that you've mastered Picture-in-Picture mode with VLC, how often do you see yourself using this feature? Is it a once-in-a-while thing, or will you be watching videos while multitasking all the time now? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.Don't Miss: How to Unlock VLC's Hidden Jigsaw Puzzle Mode on Your ComputerFollow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, and Instagram Follow WonderHowTo on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google+

How To: Temporarily Disable Your Instagram Account When You Need to Take an #InstaBreak

How To: Temporarily Disable Your Instagram Account When You Need to Take an #InstaBreak

When you don't want certain friends viewing your account or just need to take a break from social media, Instagram lets you do so. While you can completely delete your Instagram account, then start over when you're ready again, it makes much more sense to just disable your account temporarily. Doing so will hide your profile, photos, comments, and likes from everyone, including your friends. You do have the option to make your Instagram account private, but people you've accepted as friends can still interact with you and your content. Temporarily disabling your account takes it one step further by practically erasing your existence from the popular social media platform, only without permanently deleting your photos, videos, and profile information. However, there's one downside to temporarily disabling your Instagram account: You can't do it from the official Instagram application on Android and iOS. Instead, the hidden setting for your account can be found on Instagram's mobile site.Don't Miss: Send Private Instagram Stories to 'Close Friends' Only Using the mobile web browser of your choice, such as Google Chrome or Safari, go to instagram.com/accounts/edit. If you're not already logged in, go ahead and do so now. Alternatively, you can also visit instagram.com, log in, tap on the profile tab, then select "Edit Profile." It's just easier to use the direct link. Now, scroll down and tap on "Temporarily disable my account" at the bottom. Under "Why are you disabling your account?" select a reason from the drop-down menu. Currently, Instagram lists all of the following as reasons to temporarily disable your account:Just need a break Too many ads Created a second account Concerned about my data Trouble getting started Too busy/too distracting Can't find people to follow Want to remove something Privacy concerns Something else Once you've made your selection, enter your password, tap on the big blue "Temporarily Disable Account" button at the bottom of the page, and then hit "Yes" when asked if you want to go ahead with temporarily disabling your account. You will then be logged out from your account on the official Instagram app on your iPhone or Android phone. If you try and search for your disabled account, it will either tell you that the page isn't available or that the user is not found and has not posted anything yet. To reactivate your Instagram account, you just need to log back in right in the official Instagram app or via the mobile website in your mobile web browser. That's all you need to do. You will have to wait a few hours after disabling to reactivate the account, so if you decided you can't live without Instagram for more than a couple minutes, you might be disappointed. This article was produced during Gadget Hacks' special coverage on smartphone privacy and security. How To: Turn Your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 into a Galaxy S5
When the Samsung Galaxy S5 launched a few months ago, I was pretty envious of the new UI elements Samsung included on it, as I'm sure you were. The flatter interface provided for a more polished and less cartoony feel, bringing the device more in line with Google's design elements. But don't go out and grab an S5 just yet—there's a little known built-in mod that can unlock the S5's interface right on your Galaxy Note 3. I'll show you how to unlock the new TouchWiz UI, along with some additional elements, to complete the Note 3 to S5 transformation. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
What You'll NeedRooted Galaxy Note 3 Xposed Installer "Unknown sources" enabled

Step 1: Install the S5 SystemUI Theme for Note 3Launch into the Xposed Installer, tap Download, and search for "S5 SystemUI Theme for Note 3" by developer xperiacle—tap on the module to select it. Swipe over to Versions and install the latest build. Alternatively, you can download the mod directly to your device with this link. Be sure you activate the module in Xposed (check its box) and follow up with a reboot, which can also be done through the installer notification.

Step 2: Use the S5 SystemUI Theme for Note 3Launch back into Xposed and tap on Modules -> S5 System UI Theme. You can pick from various settings, but here are my recommendations for what you should have checked:S5 Theme Power Menu Theme Tab Pro recent apps (useful if you like having the horizontal-style recents app found on the Galaxy Tab Pro) Pick SFinder Click App -> Google (useful if you prefer Google Now) Always follow up with a reboot for the settings to stick, and you'll be presented with the S5 UI when your device is back up. Check out some of the new UI elements below. (1) Tab Pro's recent apps menu. (2) S5 recent apps menu. (3) Notification toggles. (4) Power menu.

Step 3: Get the S5 WallpapersTo get the S5's wallpapers, here over to this link and install them from the Play Store for free. Next, just launch the app, browser over to Stock, and download the wallpaper you want.
Step 4: Install the New S5 S VoiceOne notable feature is the new S Voice on the S5 with its updated flatter UI. Neil has a great guide on installing the new S Voice on the Galaxy S4, and the procedure will be exactly the same for the Note 3.
Step 5: Download the Modded Settings for the S5 LookWe're almost done transforming our Note 3 to get the S5 look; all that's left is modding the Settings menu to have the S5's round, flatter icons. Download the modded Setting file here, but don't tap and install like you normally would. Head to the next step to see what you should do.NOTE: This file will download as "SecSettings (1).apk", so you will need to rename it to "SecSettings.apk".

Step 6: Rename Your Current Settings AppWe'll be replacing the default Settings app with this version, so fire up any root-enabled file browser, or download and install Root Browser for free from the Play Store. Launch into Root Browser, grant permission when you're prompted by SuperSU, then browse to the /system/priv-app folder.Tap on SecSettings.apk, select the option to rename it, and add .bak to the end of the filename. Doing this will ensure that you can revert back to the original settings if ever want to.Finally, find SecSettings.odex and delete it with Root Browser. But that's not all. Hit up the next step to see how to get the new one in there.

Step 7: Replace the Settings with Root BrowserBrowse over to your Download folder and copy the SecSettings.apk file we downloaded earlier, then navigate back to the /system/priv-app folder.Paste the file here, then tap on SecSettings.apk again and choose Permissions. Check all three boxes in the first row for Read, and only the first box in the middle row for Write (as shown below), then hit OK. Reboot your device again and check out the new Settings app when you're back up (you'll see two options in your app drawer). That's it! Your Note 3 to S5 transformation is complete! Fool your friends with this mod and be sure to tell us what you think in the comments below.

How To: Redirect Links on Android to Open in the App You Really Wanted

How To: Redirect Links on Android to Open in the App You Really Wanted
One of Android's biggest strengths relative to iOS is the fact that you can use any app to open compatible links, not just the stock ones that come preloaded on your device. When you tap a link that two or more of your apps are capable of opening, you'll see a message asking which app to launch it with—and from there, the choices are "Just Once" or "Always."If you choose "Just Once," you'll continue to be prompted to select an app every time you tap one of these types of links, which gets annoying fast. Choosing "Always" means that you'll never be prompted again, and instead, your phone will just open those links with the app you chose from now on.Don't Miss:Add a Countdown to Android's Link-Handling System with 'Better Open With'In the past, I've covered an app called Better Open With that improves this interface, by replacing the "Just Once" and "Always" options with a countdown that defaults to your preferred app if you don't choose a different one first. This resolves most of the issues here, but it's not a perfect solution for everybody, and some might not like the fact that it replaces Android's default link-handling system. This is where a new app from developer Said Dane comes into play. It resides in Android's share menu, so it leaves your existing link-handling settings alone. Then, you simply select it when links created by URL shorteners open in your default browser instead of your preferred app, or in any situation where you'd just like to open a link in a different app. You can use it all by itself, or pair it with Better Open With to make problems with Android's link-handling system a thing of the past.

Step 1: Install Open Link WithTo put an end to all your frustrations with Android's link-handling system, start by installing an app called Open Link With.Install Open Link With for free from the Google Play Store

Step 2: Grant Usage AccessLaunch the app, then flip through the set-up guide to get a better idea of how it all works. When you arrive on the final screen of this set-up guide, you should take the time to tap the "Give Access" button. From here, select "Open Link With," then enable Usage Access on the following screen. This will let the app adapt to your preferences to show your most common link handlers first in the list.

Step 3: Force Links to Open with a Different AppWith that done, you can basically forget that you have Open Link With installed—at least, until you need it. From this point on, whenever a link opens in the wrong app for any reason, just head to the Android share menu, then select "Open With" from the list. Next, you'll be prompted to choose a different app to open this link, and just like with Android's share menu, the options are "Just Once" and "Always." However, these settings only pertain to links shared via Open Link With, so choosing "Always" here won't affect your existing, system-wide link-handling settings.Aside from that, the link will open in your preferred app immediately after selecting it from the share menu. So any time you get stuck in the wrong app, or simply want to open a link with a different app one time, you'll be able to do so using Open Link With. How To: Get Floating Chat Head Notifications for All Apps on Your Samsung Galaxy Note 2

The HTC First (aka "Facebook phone") has been a bigger disappointment than Dwyane Wade in this year's NBA playoffs. AT&T even dropped the price to $0.99 (with a contract) a mere month after its release. When they realized that the price drop wasn't enough to increase sales, they decided to just discontinue the damn thing altogether. Although the phone itself isn't doing so well, one feature from the Facebook-centric device that people actually seem to like is Chat Heads. On the HTC First, Chat Heads can pop up anywhere on the phone so you can stay connected to your friends no matter what you're doing. Facebook's native application later received the same treatment, but the Chat Heads were constrained to use only within the app, not throughout the whole OS. Inspired by this, Paranoid Android created a Chat Heads feature for their custom ROM called Halo—but it requires you to root and flash the ROM. Now, for those running a stock ROM, your Chat Heads are finally here.

How to Install Chat Head-Like Floating NotificationsAndroid developer Rob Joseph has created a Chat Heads-like app in Floating Notifications. While the app is currently in alpha, it works great on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Before installing, first make sure you have "Unknown Sources" checked, which can be found in Settings -> Security. To install it, simply head over to the XDA thread and download the newest version of his APK files (located at the bottom of the page). Right now, the newest one is 4r1, which you can download directly right here. Once you download the application, you'll be prompted to head over to your Accessibility settings and turn on Floating Notifications. Once it's enabled, you'll see a stack of Chat Heads show up, which you can then move anywhere on the screen. In the settings, you can change things such as the theme, the size of the icon, the font size, and whether or not you want the Chat Heads to show up on your lockscreen. You can also select which applications you want to use for the notifications. Every time you receive a notification, the blue icon will buzz. Then, all you have to do is tap it to see them. Again, the application is currently in alpha, so it may be prone to crashing and a few other small issues. Try it out and let us know how it works for you. How To: Turn a Paperwhite into the New Absurdly-Priced Kindle Oasis

How To: Turn a Paperwhite into the New Absurdly-Priced Kindle Oasis

Amazon just unveiled the Kindle Oasis, the latest model in its popular line of e-readers. There are a couple of nice new features, but it's pretty hard to see how any of them justify the whopping $290 price tag (or $310 if you don't want ads littering your screen).Unlike previous models, Oasis is designed asymmetrically, with an ergonomic "hump" on one side that makes gripping the Kindle easier with one hand, and shifts the center of gravity into your palm. Oasis also has 10 LEDs in its screen to more evenly light the display, physical buttons for page turning, is only 3.4 millimeters wide (on the non-grip side), and weighs in at just 4.6 ounces (131 grams). The reader also comes with a battery-equipped leather case, which is where most of the "improved battery life" is actually stored. On its own, Oasis will last about two weeks with regular use, but that stretches to eight or nine weeks when used with a fully-charged case. The $290 price tag is even a little misleading, as you'll have to tack on an extra $20 if you'd like a charging brick (rather than just a USB cable) and $13 for a screen protector, bringing the total to $322 just for the reader. And this is for the version with "Special Offers," or ads, as they're more commonly known. You can pay another $20 to remove the ads, which... ugh... just ugh.Fortunately, there's an easy way to get most of the features of Oasis for a fraction of the price.

Step 1: Buy a Kindle PaperwhiteOther than the price tag and the ergonomic hump, there really isn't much difference between the Oasis and the Paperwhite. Both have 6-inch, 300 dpi, glare-resistant displays. Both can hold several thousand books. Yes, you'll have to turn the pages on a Paperwhite using the touchscreen instead of using the physical buttons, but you should be able to endure. The Paperwhite is a little bit larger than Oasis, but actually ends up weighing slightly less than Oasis does when it's in its charging case. The price is the biggie; Paperwhite will only run you $120 to start.

Step 2: Buy a Third-Party GripSince the Paperwhite doesn't come with an ergonomic grip, we're going to have to add one. Luckily, they come pretty cheap. You can get some LAZY-HANDS Reader Grips, i.e., movable finger grips, for $18. Adding the grips brings our Paperwhite tally up to $138.

Step 3: Buy a CaseThat is, if you want a case. Paperwhite isn't compatible with charging cases, but that's fine—it's not like charging a Kindle regularly is that hard.If you'd like a case for other reasons, you've got plenty of options. There's always Amazon's Limited Edition Premium Leather Cover, but that costs $60. Amazon also sells a more "standard" Leather Cover, but at $40, the price is still a little high. Really, you should be able to go with one of the much-cheaper third-party covers without any worry. A lot of these are only $10-$20, so we'll call it $15 for our purposes. That brings our total up to $153.

Step 4: Fill Your Paperwhite with BooksWell, that's it. Your Paperwhite is now an Oasis for all intents and purposes, but at 47% of the price. You can use that leftover $137 to start filling up your Kindle with books. That's 27 books at an average of $4.99 per book. Image by Yuya Tamai/Flickr The Oasis won't begin shipping until April 27th, but unless there's some super-secret feature that Amazon hasn't announced yet, your money will probably be better spent on the trusty Paperwhite and a couple cheap accessories.Follow Gadget Hacks on Facebook, Google+, or Twitter.

How To: Customize the Android App Icons on Your Nexus 7 Tablet with Free Themes

How To: Customize the Android App Icons on Your Nexus 7 Tablet with Free Themes
Android's stock appearance is easy on the eyes, but after a while, it's outright boring to look at.Unlike other tablets from some manufacturers, the Nexus 7 runs stock Android and is free from any special UI tweaks or customizations. Sure, you can download themes for a third-party launcher, but themes are launcher specific. They will not work for launchers they weren't designed for.Today, I'll show you how to get any theme working on your Nexus 7 tablet using a special app called Icon Themer by Android developer ruqqq. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
Step 1: Make Sure You're RootedYou'll need to be rooted, so be sure to check out my guide on rooting the Nexus 7 if you're not already.

Step 2: Check Unknown SourcesBe sure you have Unknown Sources enabled in Settings -> Security -> Device Administration before you install anything.

Step 3: Get XposedYou need to install a framework for Icon Themer to latch onto to function, and for this, we'll be using the Xposed Framework by rovo89 to mod Android without any ROM flashing. Xposed Framework was designed to apply mods to Android without the mess and permanence of flashing.Download and install the Xposed Installer 2.14 (APK) using this link. Launch the Xposed Installer and tap the button for Install/Update. Wait until you see Done to be sure it's installed and updated. Reboot your tablet afterwards.

Step 4: Installing Icon ThemerDownload and install Icon Themer using this link. Make sure to click on the newest APK version.

Step 5: Activate Icon Themer in XposedBe sure to activate the Icon Themer module in the Modules tab in Xposed Installer to get it working.

Step 6: Downloading Icon SetsHead back over to Icon Themer and tap the second link for free icons. It'll launch the Play Store and do a search for available icons. Now just download the icons you want! Afterwards, head back to Icon Themer again to apply the icons. Choose from the icon sets you installed. Tap the button to apply the icon pack. Finally, just tap the button for soft reboot to use the new icons.

Done! Here's stock (top) and with an icon set applied (bottom). Icons can clearly make a drastic change to the look of the Android UI. No more blandness! The icon set I'm using is called DCikonZ by Daniel Czarnomorski and is available as a free download. Give this app a try and never get bored of how your Nexus 7 looks again!

News: Traveling Abroad? Here Are 6 Reasons Google Fi Is the Best Option

News: Traveling Abroad? Here Are 6 Reasons Google Fi Is the Best Option

After reviewing the international plans for major US wireless carriers, it became obvious they're all pretty bad. Your data is heavily restricted, requiring a daily fee which can cost an extra $100+ on a seven-day vacation. That's when I learned about Google Fi, and how for most travelers, it's the best option. Each of the four major carriers requires some version of a data pass for calling, texting, and a limited amount of 4G data. And for the two carriers that offer some international coverage without a data pass, it's limited to 2G.Then there is Google Fi. Google's MVNO manages to bring a consistent experience to its users, offering the same low call rates, unlimited texting, and affordable data without any additions to your plan. With Google Fi, you don't have to worry about extra charges after your international trip — it's even possible to go on your trip without paying a single additional dime.Don't Miss: Comparing International Data Plans from All Major US Carriers
1. Cheap Voice CallsWith Google Fi (formerly Project Fi), voice calling within supported countries is one rate: $0.20 per minute. This is cheaper than both T-Mobile and Sprint, who charge $0.25 per minute on most plans.Google Fi can even be better suited for some travelers than the plans offered by Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile which offer unlimited calling as part of a data pass for either $5 or $10 a day per line. As long as you're making less than 25–50 minutes worth of calls (to places within the area), it's cheaper to use Google Fi.And to save a bit of money, any calls back to the US can be done for free over Wi-Fi. You can also use Wi-Fi to avoid paying for any incoming calls, as this is also free. So to put it simply, you'll only be paying for calls you make to the local international region as long as you use Wi-Fi calling.
2. Free SMS TextingGoogle Fi also offers free SMS texting internationally. While this service is provided by some wireless carriers (namely, T-Mobile and Sprint), for Verizon and AT&T users, this once again requires the data pass and its daily fee. With Google Fi, without any addition to your plan, you can text as usual as long as you're in any of the 170+ supported countries. And that includes calls and texts to unsupported countries.
3. Cheap 4G DataWhen traveling internationally, data is essential. Whether it's checking Google Maps for directions, using messenger apps for free calls and texts, or Yelp for places of interest, having a lot of high-speed data is arguably more important than when you're at home. Unfortunately, most wireless carriers limit access to 4G LTE data, making travel more difficult using your domestic plan.Google Fi offers one of the simplest data plans for international travelers: you use your domestic plan allowance. With Bill Protection, this means $10 per GB for the first 6 GB of data, then unlimited high speed data afterward for no additional cost. While your data will be throttled to 2G speeds after 15 GB (per line), if you need more, you can opt to restore 4G service for $10 per GB (after 15 GB).This is perhaps the single best feature of Fi when it comes to traveling: Data usage doesn't cost a penny more than it does in the US, and you get the same high-speed connection you would get here. This data plan is significantly different than the other four wireless carriers. Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint all offer 4G data, but require a data pass which charges you a daily fee. Even worse, Verizon and T-Mobile limit this amount to 0.5 GB of 4G LTE a day. T-Mobile lets you stack passes for up to 1.5 GB, but that's still nothing when compared to Google Fi. Sprint and AT&T offer unlimited data (Sprint offers truly unlimited while AT&T offers you a data allowance), but this still requires a daily fee per line. And if you decide not to use the pass, the fastest speed offered for free is 2G (T-Mobile).
4. Pausable ServiceWhile Google Fi is great for traveling, you might prefer another wireless carriers for your domestic plan. Well, with Google Fi, you can pause your service up to three months, keeping it active only while you're traveling. While your service is paused, you will keep your number, won't be able to make any calls, send texts, or use data, and you won't be charged for any unused service. If you don't resume after three months, your service will automatically turn on, but you can then pause it again at any time. For someone who travels frequently, this flexibility lets you use Google Fi as a better international plan than your main wireless carrier and avoid the use of an international prepaid card and having to use an overseas phone number. Pausing also applies for military service men and women for up to 39 months.
5. Wi-Fi SecurityEven with the affordable data provided by Google Fi, you will still probably spend a decent amount of time using public Wi-Fi when on vacation. Google Fi has an option to automatically connect you to open Wi-Fi networks whenever one comes into range. However, open Wi-Fi networks can be dangerous, as they are a frequent target for hackers who can perform attacks such as man-in-the-middle where they can see all your web-based data as you browse.Google Fi protects against this threat by including a free VPN which encrypts your data. Encrypted data is similar to traveling down a highway in an armored truck vs. your car. If hackers try to intercept your truck, they will have a hard time accessing what's inside when compared to a standard vehicle. VPNs are a must-have when traveling abroad, and thanks to Google, you'll have a free one automatically.
6. Many Supported CountriesFinally, Google Fi supports a broad array of countries. Over 170 countries are supported by their international plan, all of which enjoy the benefits outlined above. More than likely, anywhere you visit will be supported, so you can enjoy the same Google Fi coverage as soon as you depart from the plane.
There Are Some NegativesWhile Google Fi is pretty amazing for traveling, it does come with a few disadvantages that you should be aware of. First is the the fact that you won't get several key features if your phone is not "Designed for Fi." Most Android phones aren't in this list, but even more conspicuously, Apple's iPhones are non-Fi phones. For iPhones, using Wi-Fi for calls and texts is only possible via the Google Fi app, forcing you to pay $0.20 per minute no matter who you call. And since this is a Google MVNO, there is no Designed for Fi iPhone, which means Apple users will always deal with this problem for the foreseeable future. Wi-Fi calling and texting are also sketchy for non-Fi Android phones. You can work around this by linking your number with Google Hangouts and using the app to make calls. Android users will need to download the Hangouts Dialer app as well to enable Wi-Fi calling. But once you've done that, you can make Wi-Fi calls through the Hangouts app, and the same rates discussed above will apply, including free calls to the US.Another thing is while cellular calls enjoy the same low rate of $0.20 per minute, Wi-Fi calling doesn't. Wi-Fi call rates vary between countries, with some countries offering rates at a few cents and some charging higher than the $0.20 per minute. This means you may have to balance between making calls on cellular then turning on Wi-Fi to receive calls, as the latter is free.Even with the negatives, Google Fi is your best option for traveling abroad. With its low fixed rates, affordable 4G data, and unlimited texting, travelers can comfortably use their regular phone without the need of a prepaid SIM card or a data pass. Google Fi eliminates the need to check for overages or having to remember to turn on international service in the first place. Just get off the plane, turn your phone on, and you are ready to go.This article was produced during Gadget Hacks' special coverage on traveling with your smartphone. How To: Get Custom Lock Screen Shortcuts on Android Lollipop

How To: Get Custom Lock Screen Shortcuts on Android Lollipop
Android's lock screen has evolved quite a bit over the years. From the Donut days of two tabs that launched the phone app and unlocked the device, to KitKat's clean and simple approach, shortcuts have come and gone.Lollipop marked the return of a pair of lock screen shortcuts—one for the Phone app, and the other for the Camera. These two apps are always a quick horizontal swipe away, which works quite well for a lot of people. But not everyone needs a quick-draw Camera or Phone app—some folks might prefer a different set of apps that can be accessed this easily. So developer TheFrenchTouch created an Xposed module that will allow you to launch any app with your lock screen shortcuts. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
RequirementsRooted device running stock Android 5.0+ (AOSP) Xposed Framework installed "Unknown Sources" enabled

Step 1: Install 'Custom Stock Lollipop LockscreenTo begin, head to the Download section of your Xposed Installer app and search for Custom Stock Lollipop Lockscreen, then tap the top result. From here, swipe over to the Versions tab, then hit the "Download" button next to the most recent entry. Within a few seconds, Android's installer interface should come right up. Simply tap "Install" on this screen.

Step 2: Activate the Module & RebootWhen installation has finished, you'll get a notification from Xposed telling you that the module hasn't been activated yet and that a reboot is needed. So tap this notification, then on the following screen, tick the box next to the newly-installed module. From here, use the drop-down menu at the top of the screen to head to the Framework section. After that, tap the "Soft Reboot" button, then press "OK" on the popup.

Step 3: Set Your Custom ShortcutsWhen you get back up, open the "Custom Stock Lollipop Lockscreen" app that you'll find in your app drawer. There are only two options in here—"Left Shortcut" and "Right Shortcut." These refer to the swipe-in gestures that you can perform from either side of your lock screen, which open the Phone and Camera apps respectively. To make one of these gestures launch a custom app, tap the associated entry. From here, simply choose your favorite app from the list. You can repeat this process for the other gesture if you'd like, but it should be noted that replacing either gesture will cause the corresponding icon in the corner of your lock screen to turn into a small circle.Nonetheless, you can now launch your custom app directly from the lock screen. Just swipe in from the edge, and your app will open immediately. (1) Left shortcut set to launch Chrome. (2) Chrome opened directly from lock screen. Which app or apps did you set as your custom lock screen shortcuts? Let us know in the comment section below, or drop us a line on Facebook, Google+, or Twitter.
